Whether you’re starting up or scaling up, I partner

Bootstrapped startups

Validating your idea or raising capital? No problem. I can help you create a killer pitch deck, a proof-of-concept, and, of course, design your Minimum Viable Product to get your vision in front of real users.

Early-stage ventures

Early traction and initial user feedback in hand? Let’s leverage that momentum. I’ll guide you through rapid prototyping based on data to refine your product and achieve product-market fit.

Expansion-stage organizations

Congratulations on scaling past the beanbag chair phase! I can help you create a more robust design system, make your offering more responsive, or tackle whatever else you’re up against.

Mature enterprises

Many businesses face the same challenge: their size is both a curse and a blessing. My product design experience helps resolve design debt, bridge communication gaps, and ship effectively again.

Renewal-stage companies

Addressing new market opportunities? Pivoting to an entirely new business model perhaps? I assist. Revamping user interfaces can be tough. Let’s give your product design an upgrade.

IPO-ready corporations

When you’re destined for an exit, I’ll keep your product design ship running smoothly with visual design that’s on brand. I won’t rock the boat, but I will help you make some waves.

My product design process

Let’s start with an analogy: imagine a stream of water carving its path through the terrain to create a rapidly flowing river. My product design process is sort of like that. I seek out the best route forward, then surge ahead.

Agile, waterfall, or a hybrid blend

Whether you’re a CEO needing a new website or managing a large, cross-functional team on a SaaS project, the shape of your initiative influences the product design process. Together we’ll choose the ideal methodology—agile, waterfall, or somewhere in between.

Agile projects

Agile is perfect for complex projects. It’s flexible, allowing for course corrections based on real-time feedback. We work in short cycles called sprints, delivering work early and often.

Waterfall projects

On the other hand, waterfall is great for simple projects with unchanging objectives. It’s a linear process, step-by-step. Though less adaptable, the right context makes it efficient.

My process may vary, yet the results remain

We discuss the challenge

Call me curious, because I’ve probably already done a bit of due diligence before we ever chat. And when we do, I ask smart questions to really get a feel for your industry and the problems you’re facing.

I research and ideate

Once a course is set, communication ramps up—usually in Slack. I prototype (rapidly at times), mixing each stakeholder’s expertise with product design best practices. Work is often pushed daily.

My designs are staged

With UX, UI, etc. in view, staging (that’s engineer territory) might be required depending on what we’re building. Either way, design can lead content, or vice versa—my years of experience give us the flexibility.

I perform quality assurance

I prepare assets, then work with engineering to ensure the look and functionality meet expectations. Figma, YouTrack, you name it—I document issues until things are right.

We test and/or ship

We’re ready to go, awesome! Whether getting here involves user testing or other forms of external validation comes down to your project’s unique needs. Then, after all the hard work, we ship.

We monitor our success

The results are in, and it’s a hit! But the work never stops. Qualitative feedback and quantitative data fuel smart decisions for your product’s next iteration. What improvements can we make next?

Why a freelance product designer like me brings more to the table

Soft skills, synergy, and other intangibles

Sure, a freelance product designer with top-notch design skills is an asset. But the real magic happens when those hard skills are paired with powerful soft skills. As a full-time freelancer—not just moonlighting—working remotely long before the pandemic, I bring a level of professionalism that stands out.

Reliability

My longest running client? Over ten years. You don’t accomplish that without commitment.

Communication

I provide clear and timely communication on Slack, email, wherever. I’m engaged.

Flexibility

Product design is a journey, not a destination. I thrive on exploring different solutions.

Organization

Behind the screens, I keep things organized. You see the results—smooth-running projects.

Time management

I realize the premium on every stakeholder’s time and make the most of it, like my own.

Your unique value proposition, my magic touch

My eye is on the industry

Trends come and go. Heck, even user behavior changes. I stay ahead by learning and adapting my skills—trendy product design or timeless strategy, I deliver. My expertise is informed, designed to stand the tests of time and technology.

I bring a fresh perspective

A/B testing, heatmaps, and other user behavior tools aside, I’m your fresh-eyed focus group. I ask insightful questions and approach your project as a potential end-user, quickly spotting usability issues, UI pitfalls, and other overlooked problems.

I speak “stakeholder”

Ever uttered the phrase “make it pop”? It’s a common request most designers bristle at. With me, I know how to get to the bottom of what that actually means. No matter the cliché, I don’t just design; I translate, bridging the design-business gap with confidence.

My design strategy adapts

Is your unique value proposition a paradigm shift? Then you know firsthand how maverick moves can be beneficial. I know how and when to bend the rules of product design to fit your situation—whether it's combining UX with UI or something entirely different.

I’m cost-conscious

Big budget or bootstrapped startup—I understand. I treat your budget as if it were my own. Am I the cheapest out there? Probably not. But, I make the most of every dollar you invest in design, because your success is also my success.

I’m here for the long haul

CEO, entrepreneur, or founder—you may be a team of one today, but with my help, you’ll be on your way to success. My user experience design has propelled up-and-comers to industry-leaders. As your product and team grow, I’ll be there to work with them too.

Here I am—your freelance product design generalist

Take it from me, big firms can be a double-edged sword—renowned, but often out of reach for most businesses. On the other hand, third-party platforms usually lack the strategic thinking that freelance product design requires. When it comes to world-class product design, I’m your direct connection, from the ground floor, all the way to the top. And that’s my elevator pitch.
