REVISION PATH PODCAST INTERVIEW

I was invited onto the highly-regarded Revision Path Podcast—episode #534, to be exact. Host Maurice Cherry and I had a wide-ranging conversation about design, the industry, and the future.
“Color, scale, contrast, repetition, light texture—those things can apply to interior design, print design, furniture design—so I very much see that I will be in some creative space. Now, which one that is in the future, I’m not sure. For the time being, it will definitely be product design.”

INTERACTION DESIGN DETROIT

I took the stage at Detroit's 1st annual Interaction Design Day. There were engaging panel discussions, hands-on workshops, and presentations, including mine (details below.) Though the event wasn’t recorded, the microsite memorializes it.
My presentation entitled How to Stop Ghosting Your Side Projects contained a mix of eye-opening insights, practical tips, and tools for product designers to make sure never again would their side project go from start to stagnation.

Keeping your organization at the forefront involves staying attuned to how these terms shape the ever-evolving expectations of users and the technologies we use. As this narrative expands, two letters gradually emerge from beneath the surface—A and I.

Why I’m Not the Product Designer You’re looking for

Who’s Disrupting Now? The Endless Cost of Being a Product Designer.

Less than about a decade ago, to be a designer you just needed the graphics program of your choice, an email client, and perhaps an internet connection. Software that many of us used to do our jobs like Photoshop, and Illustrator, were still under the Creative Suite moniker and cost “only” $699 out-the-door. A great deal has changed since then.
